Slowly building a music production blog. On Blogger/blogspot but i've got my own URL. The layout is all coded now i just have to keep blogging. It's easy but boring. I guess once i've got like 100 posts it will be more rewarding/thrilling, lol.

Heat Headache

Survived last night. Zonked right to sleep as soon as i went to bed. It was much cooler last night. This morning it's still cooler but i have a slight headache. Another do nothing type of day.

This is why i want to start blogging in a big blog. It seems like i could do it when there is nothing else to do. Just blog... it will be ok, lol.

It wasn't as hot today as yesterday. Although the weatherman said tomorrow was going to be worse than today. :(

I wonder what the electricity bill will be this month. The AC was on from 9am to 9pm. Still too hot to do much of anything.

Yesterday was the hottest day this year. Almost unbearable. Drank like 10 milkshake tall cups of ice water. Today is supposed to be hot too. Already have the AC on.

I'm torn between making a website and making a big blog. I've been testing out blogging for a while but i wasn't so into it. Now like sometimes before i feel the itch to give it another try, lol.

The thing is just blogging about one thing seems boring. I wonder how bloggers stay focused. I also wonder if they blog because they don't know how to build a website.

I've been checking out Google Plus. I signed up. Made a profile for an electronic musician. It seems easy enough to use. The one thing i wish it had was the ability to see other people's circles. It would be easier to find new people/music/whatever if one could do that.

I think glitch music is awesome. I see it's not that popular though. People like dance music more. Seems like the only people that listen to glitch are the ones who make it. To me that means it would never sell. The majority of sales come from non-music makers. IMO.

Finished an album of electronic music last month. It took years to make. now the hard part. Promoting it. Most people think skill sells records. It doesn't. It's pr. It's going to take a mass level event to get popular. I must find a way to creep in.

...but first i'm going to finish my free loops site i'm almost done with. Only 25 more loops to record and edit. Then listen to the finale 125 and fix any if any need to be fixed. I was going to do some other sites but i don't know. I've got a lot of stress in my life right now.

Adwords

Tried to use Adwords to promote music. Failed, lol. Had about 2,000 impressions on the ad and no clicks and Google slapped it with a low quality score. Had the price of the album in the ad. Should of known better. People (losers?) only want FREE music. They see a price and it's like a Vampire looking at a cross.

Kind of mad about it.

Things like this will kill music in the end. People (losers?) will be left with all those MySpace bands and wack soundclick rappers.

Have fun listening to that.

Loops Ain't Dead Yet

People still search for free loops. They ain't dead yet. I thought they were but they are like zombies that won't stop.

Going to be working on a bunch of sites this summer. Not fun. When it's work it's not fun. And i know it's going to be a lot of work.

For the next month i will be learning off and on about advertising online. Teaching myself via trial and error. Already learned something cool. Going to test things.

People won't buy music online from someone they have never heard of before. Promoting music online is not easy. I can't think of anyone that's made it online musically without an outside mass level event of exposure.

I had the album for free as i made it. Just finished it last week. I was going to wait until July 4th to sell it but i'm going through a stressful time in my life and i need the money... ANY money because i'm saving up to move. My neighbors suck.

I haven't lived next to good neighbors in like 20 years.

Is there room for a satanist in EM? I think so. It needs all kinds. EM needs all the help it can get right now. sure a lot of people make EM but not a lot make money from it. and by money i mean make a living from it. They resort to having to DJ.

Another problem is most of people that make EM are stuck on themselves. Always think their music is better than the next person online. Seems like if you haven't been on the cover of a magazine they think you suck, lol. Meanwhile all they have is a myspace or another FREE profile site.

Decided to focus on a hip hop beats website this spring and summer. considering i make electronic music i'll have something else sound wise to add to the uniqueness of making beats.

Downloading Music Plugins

This month when my headphones broke i took the time to download new music plugins. I'm glad i did. I now have over 100. It makes making music much MUCH easier/fun. It took me like 6 hours for like 5 days to get them all, lol. I backed them up on a DVD. I'm not taking the time to DL all those again.

Always back up your files.

Guitar Samples

I just bought 1,900+ guitar samples for only $16. I'd rather pay than to have to go dig and chop samples myself. Some people (maybe most people) seem to be such Scrooges when it comes to buying samples. If you need something just buy it, duh. It's quicker than searching endlessly for free. Get on with recording.

In the future you will see more and more artists selling samples i think. Just another way to make music money. Some will give away for free to draw in people and links but in time they will switch to sales. People with no money (always wanting FREE) don't concern me.
